Pancreatitis
By Catherine Woodliffe

Eggs & dairy products cause big problems for dogs with pancreatitis. You have to feed a low fat, low fibre diet that is easy to digest & eliminate dairy & eggs. I would say the raw eggs & the cottage cheese were as much to blame as the fatty meats. It is not good to mix diets (I.e. kibble & raw meat supplements, choose one or the other but don't mess with both), If you want to figure out how to feed your dog that is suffering from pancreatitis, talk to a good holistic vet or start your research into the best diet for your dog. There are many variables that come into play in managing a dog with this condition that you have to do it very carefully & thoughtfully. One thing I would like to point out as a breeder is that I have never had a dog of my own come down with pancreatitis in all the time I have been breeding. I think the reason our dogs ('our' meaning those of us that have been feeding good homemade fresh diets for years & generations) are so healthy is two-fold: we feed them a good diet that we have perfected for them over the years & we have genetically selected dogs that are healthy for our breeding programmes. I do believe that genetics do play a big part in the poor health of many dogs & conversely, I believe that good nutrition keeps our dogs healthier than the average.

Yours sincerely,
